We had the 2nd Annual Purdy Christmas Pageant this past weekend! Our friends Amy and Andy started this pageant last year! They do it as a way to teach our kids about the true meaning of Christmas and I think it is such a wonderful thing! The kids love it and have so much fun and learn so much! G has been looking forward to it for awhile now! Last year she was the star and this year she was an angel! Last year Lillie was baby Jesus but she was a little too big this year so she was a pig!:) The little ones are stable animals and we just put them up there at the end for pictures but they sure are cute! Amy gives each older child a part and they have one or two lines to say. Then they all memorize two memory versus and several songs! A few of the kids had solos and Gracie chose "Hark the Herold Angels Sing" because she was an angel!:) We have been listening to our songs in the car for several weeks now! One night she was singing along and daddy noticed that she said "Bark" instead of "Hark"! He said, "Gracie it's Hark the Herold Angels instead of Bark" and she replied "Daddy Hark is not a word, Bark sounds better!" HA! I thought that was too funny! The kids had two practices to get ready! Amy is so creative with them and for the practice on Friday afternoon she does a craft with them and this year it was a wreath with the nativity scene. She has cookies and candy canes for them and reads them the Christmas story! Alot of work goes into it but it is all worth it to help our children learn about Jesus and what God did for us! After the pageant we all brought a covered dish and enjoyed a delicious meal together! This is such a special tradition that they have started with alot of different families and we are thankful to be a part of it! I wish I had gotten a picture of the food table and all the decorations! Amy and Andy go to alot of work to make it festive and inviting! It wasn't very cold that night so that was nice that we could be outside! Last year we all about froze~ Ha! Here are some of our pictures! Enjoy!
