Well, I finally am getting around to putting up pictures of Gracie Leigh's big girl room! This has been a huge project for me (and everyone else who has helped! This post might get long because I have so many people to thank and want to remember!) Craig and I started thinking about getting G in a big girl bed back in Dec. since we knew we would need the baby furniture for baby #2. My grandmother offered up her twin beds she had in her guest bedroom. I was unsure at first about twin beds thinking G would grow out of them quicker but the more I thought about it the more I liked the idea in her room. The beds also hold sentimental value for me because they were the ones I slept in every time I stayed at my grandparents house. They lived right around the corner from us so I was over there alot. We got the beds right after Christmas and set up one just to see what Gracie would think. We left the crib up just in case. Well, she loved it and hasn't thought twice about her crib since. She has never gotten out of her bed at night or naps. It has been the easiest transition yet!
So, next was to start decorating. Hmmm....that was the hardest part for me because I didn't know what colors I wanted to do. I could not find anything I liked and with not knowing if we were having a girl or boy at the time it made it even harder. In comes my sweet sweet friend Amy (who I owe most of the thanks to for helping me with G's room!). She started on the hunt to help me find something...and when I say hunt...she doesn't sleep until it's done!:) I knew I wanted chocolate and pink and I thought green but then she found these cute quilts at Target with the cutest pink sheets and I was in love! So, from there came chocolate and pink toile curtains (which Amy made herself and did a fabulous job!!! She also made Lillie's but I will post about those later). Amy is so talented in sewing and decorating and she just took off with ideas. She also made the euro pillows shams out of the toile which I love on each bed. I knew I wanted the oval scallops over each bed with bible verses so I borrowed my friend Carolyn's mom's overhead projector and painted them on the wall. Then a talented friend Elizabeth came over and painted the bible verses in each oval. Love those too! We got her a new nightstand and dresser and daddy built her a dollhouse bookshelf! This also scared me at first. I LOVE my husband to death but building things have not always come easy to him. He does try and I will post about more that he has done for me and G later, but when he said he wanted to make her a bookshelf like the one in Pottery Barn Kids I had my doubts. Well, doubt no more. He built the bookshelf for her and had it ready for her birthday! I love it and so does she. It is very special because she will always know her daddy did that for her. Now, I just have to finish decorating it!:) G now calls her room her princess room and I think it is fit for a little princess. I still have some pictures to put in frames, get a few more things to hang on the wall and some small pillows on the bed...but all in all it is almost complete! Thanks to everyone who has helped me get my little princesses room together before Miss Lillie arrives!:)
One little girls room almost complete and off to finish little girl #2!
