...the Ladybug came to visit us this past weekend!
Lucy is the mascot in Gracie's 3K classroom. They are the Lively Ladybugs and so they have a ladybug mascot. Each child gets a chance to bring Lucy home for a weekend and take care of her. The teacher asks that Lucy participate in fun things that the child does over the weekend, take some pictures and then decorate two scrapbook pages and send back to school on Monday. Gracie was SO excited that it was her turn last weekend! She could barely contain herself when I picked her up last Friday. She couldn't wait to get busy with Lucy and do lots of fun things with her. Gingy happened to be here for a visit and got to meet Lucy and take part in some of the fun activities. Gracie took her responsibility very seriously. She didn't go anywhere without Lucy. They played games together, played outside, baked cookies with us, went to Target and church and even slept with Gracie. (I know what you are thinking...I let her sleep with the ladybug that gets passed around in class. In all the excitement I didn't think about how dirty she might be until after her first nap and then what could I do?! I just told myself that the teacher probably sprayed her down when each child brought her back~ HA!). Daddy and I even got attached to Lucy. I think it was more of seeing Gracie so excited and carrying it around like it was her baby!:) We were all sad to see her go back on Monday but Gracie handled it very well. She understood that her turn was over and someone else would get her the next weekend. As part of taking Lucy home they ask for a parent to come in and read on that Friday. I was able to go this morning and read to her class. They were all so cute and it was alot of fun. It brought back memories of teaching!:) Here are some photos of our adventures with Lucy! Enjoy!
