NYC: Day 4

Day 4 was much clearer! We actually saw blue sky and got excited!:) It was freezing though but we spent part of the morning inside which helped. Exhaustion was setting in and Craig was starting to get sick so being inside was nice. We got tickets to Live with Kelly and Michael. We wanted to go to a show but don't watch late night t.v. I like this show while on the treadmill and Craig enjoyed seeing Michael Strahan (ex football player). We got there at the time the tickets said the doors would open....um we were like some of the last ones in-ha! Obviously we missed the memo to get there two hours early! (We choose to get sleep and I would do that again anyway;)). We made it in just in time...the show starts at 9:00. We were up on the second level but on the front row. It was so cool to see how they shoot the show. Kelly and Michael were so friendly and would talk to the crowd during commercials. They shot the live show and then asked us to stay about 20 more minutes to shoot an intro to a holiday show (day after Christmas...look for us on that one;)). It was neat to watch them change the set to Christmas. My parents taped the show for us and said they saw us three times in there!;). It was a fun experience. After the show we took a cab down to the Staten Island Ferry. We grabbed lunch at another cute lunch shop and then took the Ferry over to New Jersey. We wanted to see the Statue of Liberty and had been told this was the best way and it was free!;) The ferry that takes you right over to the Statue of Liberty was not running because the bridge to the island had been damaged due to the recent hurricane. We really enjoyed the ferry and had a fabulous view of the Statue of Liberty and the NY skyline! We rode it over and then got right back on and came back. Once back we headed back into town and walked up Wall Street to see the NY Stock Exchange. We also visited St Paul's Chapel that was a vital part of helping people during 9/11. That was very sobering to see. They had memorials set up inside and even had a pew bench left to show the wear and marks from many firefighters and volunteers during that time. It was devastating as a nation but made it more real being there in person. After seeing more sites we walked to China town. I was excited to go here and see what all the hype was about. I lasted about 5 minutes and then wanted to leave-ha! It was not for me. I can at least say I saw it!;) We headed back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. We headed to Bobby Flays restaurant the Mesa Grill. It was delicious! After dinner we took the Holiday Lights tour. It was good but COLD! We had a fun filled day 4!;)
