Swim Lessons

Not only did Gracie have a busy last two weeks of school but we also did swimming lessons everyday for an hour! We squeezed that in because we were heading to the beach the weekend after her dance recital and we wanted her to be able to use her swimming skills that she had worked so hard on.  So, everyday I picked her up a little early from school and we headed to swimming.  I have to say by the end we all were exhausted and needed a vacation~ HA! She did it with four of her little friends from school and dance so that was fun! The girls had a blast together and we enjoyed some ice cream dates after some of the classes which she loved! Her classes this year were an hour as compared to 30 minutes the previous years.  This was her fourth year taking from Mrs. Julie and we have been so pleased with all she's learned.  This year they worked on the free style, butterfly or rocket kicks, floating on their backs, diving off the side and the diving board and lots more! I have to say I was very nervous about the diving but she did great! Mrs. Julie would make them dive through a big metal ring and it really seemed to help them focus on where to go.  Each day when they were done they would get whale stamps.  The kids all look forward to this! Funny the little things that make them so happy!:) I don't have many pictures because parents have to sit in the pool house and she has tiny blinds up that you have to squint to see through.  One mom went out one day and hid behind a tree to get pictures of the kids jumping off the diving board.  I had Miss Lillie so there was none of that for me. Lillie was a trooper and did great until the last few days.  I fed her lunch there and then she just ran around the pool house playing with books and entertaining everyone.  There was one other toddler there too.  I think toward the end she was just tired of being there and on the go too but overall did well! The last day Mrs. Julie let us all come out for the last couple of minutes to see them float on their backs.  This is before they started.  They got in a circle and had a little chant they said before they did it.  Something about ears on the water, back on the water, arms on the water and feet on the water.
